Self Help Groups
  • Self-help groups are seen as instruments for a variety of goals including, empowering women, developing leadership abilities among poor people, increasing school enrolments, and improving nutrition and the use of birth control.
  • An economically poor individual gains strength as part of a group.Financial intermediation is generally seen more as an entry point to these other goals, rather than as a primary objective.more info

Out Reach Villages

  • Brigades offer an opportunity to work with local leaders and plan projects that alleviate suffering in the local populations.

Vocational Training

  • The PSDSindia currently run six vocational centres in rural areas around Varanasi and Sarnath. These centres are designed to train women in the skills of clothes making and bag making primarily.

Purvanchal Social Development Society (PSDS) is a Non-Governmental Organisation based in Uttar Pradesh, north-east India. The aim of PSDS is to develop a society which is healthy, educated, empowered, systematic and economically strong. We work in numerous regions of Uttar Pradesh and neighbouring Bihar and we have established a wide variety of projects which focus on achieving our aims.

    We work to help people who are uneducated and illiterate, and have poor social and economic conditions.Our work has no bias regarding gender, religion and background. However women, children and the elderly are on top of our priority list as they are suffering the most.

  • Our Views

    Our projects range from child education and welfare to homes for the elderly. The majority of the projects are focused in rural and tribal areas where the needs are greatest. We look for practical ways to improve the social and economic circumstances both in the short and long term.
